Appreciation for Field Worker Appar Naduva

”Thagaisal Tamilar” Award for Kathir Mohideen - “Kalam” Award for ISRO Chairman

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presented the Thagaisal Tamilar Award to Professor K.M. Kathir Mohideen, the National President of the Indian Union Muslim League party. Similarly, the Chief Minister honored ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Sivan with the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award.

The Thagaisal Tamilar award is given to those who strive for the development of Tamil Nadu and the pride of the Tamil community. Accordingly, this year's award was presented to Kathir Mohideen, the President of the Indian Union Muslim League party, by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. The Abdul Kalam award was presented to ISRO Chairman K. Sivan for his technical contributions, having worked at ISRO for 41 years and now risen to the position of Chairman.

’Sudarshan Chakra’ Scheme Announced

Prime Minister Modi, in his Independence Day speech, announced the 'Sudarshan Chakra' scheme to create an indigenous air defence system for the protection of all strategically important locations, including the country's military bases.

'The central government is determined to reduce India's dependence on foreign countries for military hardware. Inspired by Lord Krishna, the 'Sudarshan Chakra' scheme will be implemented over the next 10 years to protect the country from any threat. It will be developed into a powerful weapon system that can prevent enemy attacks and launch counter-attacks.'

Kalpana Chawla Award

The Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise was presented to Ms. Muthamizh Selvi from Peravurani, Thanjavur district. She has achieved the feat of scaling Mount Everest. The Chief Minister presented her with the award, which includes a cheque for ₹5 lakhs, a gold-plated medal, and a certificate.

India, U.S. to hold military exercise in Alaska this month

Amid trade uncertainties, India and United States will hold a joint military exercise in Alaska this month. According to the External Affairs Ministry, the India-U.S. defence partnership, underpinned by foundational defence agreements, is an important pillar of the bilateral ties. The cooperation has strengthened across all domains. “We are expecting a U.S. Defence Policy Team to be in Delhi in mid-August. The 21st edition of the joint military exercise Yudh Abhyas is expected to take place this month.
