TVS Motor Company extends deal with Angkor Tiger FC

TVS Motor Company has extended its partnership with Cambodian Premier League team, Angkor Tiger Football Club, for the 2025-26 season. TVS Motor will enhance its support with the contribution of a TVS Kargo King 225cc auto for the club’s operational purposes. Angkor Tiger FC is based in Siem Reap, and Indian firm SkaSports holds a stake in it.

Veteran India woman batter Veda Krishnamurthy retires

India batter Veda Krishnamurthy announced her retirement from international cricket on Friday. She hinted that she will continue to be associated with the sport in some other role. Veda played 48 ODIs, scoring 829 runs. She also played 76 T20Is, collecting 875 runs. Her last T20I match was against Australia in Melbourne in 2020. She made her international ODI debut in 2018.

World Junior Squash: Anahat Singh Wins Bronze

Indian player Anahat Singh won a bronze medal at the World Junior Squash Championship held in Egypt. This is India’s first medal in this competition in the last 15 years. In the women’s singles semi-final, Anahat Singh lost to England’s Elmandil with scores of 6-11, 12-14, 10-12. She reached the semi-finals of the World Championship, securing a bronze medal. Earlier in 2010, Indian player Joshna Chinappa had also reached the semi-finals of the same competition and won a bronze medal. This tournament marks the best performance by an Indian in this category since Joshna Chinappa reached the finals in 2005.

Anuradha Thakur named Director, RBI Central Board

Anuradha Thakur, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, has been nominated as a Director on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India (RBI). She replaces Ajay Seth, who was appointed as the new Chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). Her nomination is effective from July 24 until further orders.

PM Modi Surpasses Indira Gandhi, Completes 4,078 Days as PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 4,078 days as the country’s Prime Minister, surpassing former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s continuous tenure record. Modi has achieved the distinction of being the second longest-serving Prime Minister in India’s history. Indira Gandhi served continuously for 4,077 days from August 24, 1966, to March 24, 1977. Modi, who first took office as Prime Minister in 2014, also served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2012. Modi holds the distinctions of being the first Prime Minister born after independence, the longest-serving non-Congress Prime Minister, and the first non-Congress Prime Minister to complete two full terms in office.

The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019, amended the existing Citizenship Act of 1955.

Procurement of Radars to Aid Precision Strikes

Air defense radars capable of sharing information for precise targeting and strikes will be procured. The Ministry of Defense signed a ₹2,000 crore agreement with Bharat Electronics Limited on Friday for this procurement. These radars, which will be manufactured with at least 70% indigenous content, are capable of detecting all types of aerial threats, including fighter jets, helicopters, and drones. This historic agreement will strengthen the defense sector and contribute to enhancing the Indian Army’s capabilities and the nation’s economic growth.

DRDO Successfully Tests Missile Launch from Drone

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted a test launch of a missile from an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) to track and engage targets. The test was conducted at the missile testing facility in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. DRDO’s new generation ‘V2’ missile is capable of precisely hitting and destroying multiple targets. These missiles can be launched from the ground and high altitudes, both day and night. After impact, the missile includes a reconfigurable fuse and data link. Indian armed forces conducted these attacks on terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which are a security threat to India. Following these attacks, a frontline situation has developed between India and Pakistan. While Indian forces used their MiG-21 aircraft to conduct attacks, Pakistan responded by dropping bombs on Indian border areas using its JF-17 drones. Following this conflict, India has intensified efforts to increase the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the defense sector.

Recognition of Palestine as a Separate State: France Announces

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that France will recognize Palestine as a separate state. This decision will be confirmed in September 2025 at the UN General Assembly meeting. Macron stated that amidst the humanitarian crisis and ongoing conflict, this recognition aims to facilitate the functioning of both Israel and Palestine as separate, independent states. Currently, 140 countries, including India, recognize Palestine.

₹4,850 Crore Loan Assistance to Maldives - PM Modi Announces

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India’s decision to provide a loan of ₹4,850 crore to the Maldives. A bilateral investment agreement between India and Maldives is decided to be finalized quickly. Bilateral trade talks have also commenced. Prime Minister Modi made this announcement after meeting with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu. Maldivian President Muizzu had urged for the complete withdrawal of Indian troops from Maldives. India will always support Maldives in the field of security. This is a testament to the security cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries. Modi stated that the two countries’ political relations would reach new heights in the next 10 years. Both nations have affirmed that trade will be fully implemented by 2035. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi arrived in Maldives after concluding his visit to Britain and participated in Maldives’ 60th Independence Day celebrations.
