Exercise Winged Raider

® The Indian Army and the Indian Air Force has successfully conducted “ Winged Raider ”, a joint military exercise in the Eastern Theater . ® The exercise focused on special airborne operations.

Joint exercise ‘Ekuverin’ commences

® The 13th edition of the joint military exercise between the Indian Army and the Maldives National Defence Force named “ Ekuverin ” has begun in the Maldives . ® The term “Ekuverin” means “ Friends ” in Dhivehi language. ® India and Maldives also conducted military exercise such as Exercise ‘Katha’ that took place in the Maldives in 2023.

India to become fourth largest economy

® According to a report by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), India is expected to become the fourth largest economy in the world by 2026 , surpassing Japan. ® The GDP growth of India is projected at 6.8% in FY25 and 7.7% in FY26. ® India’s GDP for FY26 ® According to a report by CRISIL Ratings Ltd, India’s GDP is expected to grow by 6.7% in FY26.

Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan launched

® The Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan initiative have been launched to open historically important areas for Indian citizens. ® The government has identified 77 sites under this initiative, including 11 in Jammu & Kashmir and 21 in Arunachal Pradesh.

Agnikul Cosmos Successfully Tests India’s First Electric Motor-Driven Semi-Cryogenic Rocket Engine

® Agnikul Cosmos, a Chennai-based private space startup, has successfully test-fired India’s first electric motor-driven semi-cryogenic rocket engine. ® This marks a major technological milestone in India’s private space sector, advancing indigenous propulsion capabilities. ® Semi-cryogenic engines use a combination of liquid oxygen and refined kerosene, offering improved efficiency over conventional engines.

India’s First Stigma Scale for Sickle Cell Disease (ISSSI)

® The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has developed India’s first stigma assessment tool for sickle cell disease, named ICMR-SCD Stigma Scale for India (ISSSI). ® It is the first of its kind in India and fourth globally, tailored to India’s diverse social context. ® India has the second-highest burden of sickle cell disease after Sub-Saharan Africa. ® The scale will be used in both clinical and research settings to better understand and address social stigma linked to the disease.

India Clears AMCA: Indigenous 5th-Gen Stealth Fighter Project

® The Government of India has approved the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project — a 5th-generation stealth fighter jet program. ® The project is being developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) under DRDO, Ministry of Defence. ® AMCA is a 25-tonne, twin-engine, multi-role stealth fighter, equipped with advanced avionics, sensor fusion, and cutting-edge stealth design. ® The program aims to position the Indian Air Force (IAF) among global next-gen combat powers alongside the US, Russia, and China. ® Once operational, AMCA will significantly boost India’s indigenous defence manufacturing and air superiority capabilities.

ISRO Releases Indian Space Situational Assessment Report (ISSAR) 2024

® ISRO has published the Indian Space Situational Assessment Report (ISSAR) 2024, highlighting efforts in Space Situational Awareness (SSA). ® SSA focuses on monitoring space environment, assessing potential collision threats, and implementing mitigation measures. ® In 2024, ISRO conducted 10 Collision Avoidance Manoeuvres (CAMs) to safeguard Indian satellites from space debris and other objects. Global space activity (2024): ® 261 launch attempts with 254 successes ® 2578 operational satellites added worldwide India’s space presence (till 2024 end): ® 136 spacecraft launched ® 22 operational satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) ® 31 operational satellites in Geosynchronous Orbit (GEO)
