BIMSTEC Youth

Summit held in Gujarat

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has inaugurated the first Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Youth Summit in Gandhinagar,

Gujarat .

®     

The summit was held under the theme ‘ Youth as a Bridge for Intra-BIMSTEC Exchange ’.

®     

It was jointly organised by the

MoYA&S and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

®     

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Young Indians (YI) served as the knowledge partner.

®     

During the summit, India proposed that BIMSTEC should act as a “ Youth Bridge ”, aiming to empower young leaders.

®     

India’s skill-building initiatives have improved youth employability from 33.95% in 2013 to 54.81% in 2024 .

Select committee

constituted

A select committee of the Lok Sabha , chaired by Baijayant Jay Panda , has been formed to examine the Income-Tax Bill, 2025 .

®     

The committee consists of 31 MPs.

PM Modi’s Visit to

France

PM Narendra Modi has paid a 2-day visit to France .

Both countries have signed a Declaration on AI to promote cooperation in technology and innovation.

The logo for the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 was launched.

®     

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has signed a Letter of Intent to establish the Indo-French Center for the Digital Sciences .

®     

Both countries have announced plans to establish a partnership on Advanced Modular Reactors and Small Modular Reactors in the field of civil nuclear energy.

®     

The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) has renewed its MoU concerning cooperation with the Global Center for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) .

®     

Both countries have jointly declared their intent to collaborate on Triangular Development Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and for sustainable development.

India surpasses 100

GW of Solar Capacity

®     

Union Minister has announced that India

has achieved 100 GW of installed solar power capacity.

®     

India’s solar power sector has witnessed an exponential increase of 3450% in capacity over the last 10 years, increasing from 2.82 GW (in 2014) to 100.33 GW (in January 2025).

®     

24.5 GW of solar capacity was added in 2024.

®     

2030 Target: 100 GW solar module production.

®     

Top 5 states for solar installation: Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Karnataka
