China unveils assault ship

® China has launched its first ‘Type 076 ’ class amphibious assault ship named “Sichuan” for fighter jets to land on its deck in Shanghai, China. ® With a full-load displacement of over 40,000 tons , it is the largest naval vessel in China.

Indian Navy partners for training

® Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara , has signed an MoU with the Indian Navy . ® The MoU aims to enhance logistics-related education , research, and training for the Indian Navy. ® Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya was established in 2022 under the Ministry of Railways (MoR).

DRDO acquires iBooster system

® DRDO has acquired the iBooster green propulsion system from Manastu Space Technologies ( Mumbai ). ® The system is designed for satellites weighing between 100 and 500 kg. ® Manastu Space , an IIT Bombay -based space tech startup, has successfully test-fired its first Green Propulsion System named “VYOM 2U” onboard the PSLV C60 in Lucknow . ® The Green Propulsion System is non-toxic and eco-friendly compared to conventional chemical propulsion systems. ® It supports orbit raising, station-keeping and deorbiting. ® It uses a proprietary hydrogen peroxide- based fuel. ® This achievement follows 4 years of extensive research and development supported by DRDO’s Technology Development Fund (TDF).

US tests hypersonic weapon

® The US military successfully tested the Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW), also known as “Dark Eagle” , at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida , USA. ® The missile travelled at Mach 5 speed (3,800 mph). ® It can hit distant targets. ® It was developed by Lockheed Martin Corporation and Northrop Grumman Corportaion.
