India-Malaysia Security Dialogue

® India and Malaysia organised the first edition of the India-Malaysia Security Dialogue in New Delhi . ® The dialogue aimed to boost bilateral cooperation in defence and security. ® Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in counter-terrorism, deradicalization, cybersecurity, defence industry, and maritime security.

India commissions three naval ships

® The Indian Navy has commissioned three frontline platforms simultaneously for the first time: INS Niligiri , INS Vaghsheer , and INS Surat . ® PM Narendra Modi stated that INS Niligiri is dedicated to the naval empire of Cholas and INS Surat is dedicated to India’s ancient connection to West Asia through Gujarat

India upgrades Scorpene submarines

® The Ministry of Defence has signed two contracts worth ₹2,867 crore related to Scorpene-class submarines.

Sonobuoy

® The USA -based Ultra Maritime will assemble sonobuoys in India in partnership with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) in Visakhapatnam. ® An operational production line is expected to be ready by 2027 . ® Sonobuoys are used to detect submarines underwater. ® India and the USA have agreed to co-produce US sonobuoys for Undersea Domain Awareness (UDA) for the Indian Navy. ® Ultra Maritime (UM) and Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) will jointly produce the sonobuoys. ® Sagar Defence Engineering Pvt Ltd and Liquid Robotics will jointly develop and produce scaled Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV) systems for UDA for the Indian Navy.
