New Air Defence Weapon System: India Successfully Tests

In a new milestone for India's space defense sector, the indigenously developed Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (ATADS) was successfully tested off the Odisha coast on Saturday.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the
ATADS system integrates conventional and enemy aircraft with low-level, short-range air defense systems (VL-SRSAM) and high-range weapons (DDTPI).
All these modern weapons are managed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Integrated Command and Control Centre.
This centre allows all weapon systems to operate simultaneously.
The test took place at the
Chandipur test range in Odisha on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 PM.
During the test, three different targets, including aircraft and a multi-copter drone, were successfully engaged on August 21.

Gaganyaan Mission: Parachute Test Successful

ISRO announced that the first stage parachute system (OA-01) test, crucial for safely landing the Gaganyaan mission spacecraft returning to Earth by reducing its speed, was successfully conducted on Sunday.
The Gaganyaan mission, a dream project of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to send humans into space, is a part of India's efforts to become the world's first nation after America, Russia, and China to send humans to space. As part of this mission, four group captains from the Indian Air Force - Sakan, Prashanth, Ajith Krishnan, and Angsh Pirrai - have been selected as astronauts.
Three of them will be sent to a low Earth orbit at an altitude of 400 km. They will stay there for three days and perform various research tasks. Afterwards, they will return to Earth safely.
Subhanu Shukla, one of the Gaganyaan astronauts, recently successfully completed an experience-gaining training under the 'Agni-U4' mission at the International Space Station. The first uncrewed test flight of the Gaganyaan mission is scheduled for the end of this year. In this context, the first stage test of the Gaganyaan spacecraft's parachute system was conducted.
When the spacecraft re-enters Earth from space, its speed will be thousands of kilometers per hour. Reducing this speed in a few seconds is a challenging task. The parachute system is a key technology to overcome this challenge.
During the test conducted on Sunday in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, the functions of the Gaganyaan spacecraft's parachute system were thoroughly tested. A test object released from a specific altitude in space was gradually slowed down with the help of this parachute system and landed safely.
