PM’s Pariksha Pe Charcha Sets Guinness World Record

Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Jitin Prasada received the Guinness World Record for the latest edition of “Pariksha Pe Charcha” on Monday. “Pariksha Pe Charcha” is an annual event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The initiative, organised by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with MyGov since 2018, received the record for the “Most people registered on a citizen engagement platform in one month”. Mr. Pradhan stated that #PPC2025 has set a world record with over 3.53 crore registrations and more than 21 crore viewership on television.

LTIMindtree Bags Tender for PAN 2.0

LTI Mindtree Limited has been awarded the tender for the government’s PAN 2.0 project. The project aims to bring all services related to Permanent Account Numbers (PAN) and Tax Deduction and Collection Account Numbers (TAN) onto one platform. According to sources in the Central Board of Direct Taxes, the project is expected to be operational in 18 months. The bid for the implementation of the project was won by LTI Mindtree at an adjusted bid value of ₹792.5 crore. The PAN 2.0 Project of the Income Tax Department was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.

’Sri Shakti’ Scheme to Launch on August 15

The “Sri Shakti” scheme, providing free bus travel for women in Andhra Pradesh government buses, will be launched on August 15. The implementation of this scheme was discussed at a meeting held yesterday in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, chaired by Transport Minister M. Ramprasad Reddy. Under the ‘Sri Shakti’ scheme, 6,700 government buses will be utilized. A team from Andhra Pradesh had previously visited states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana to study their free bus travel schemes. Women can travel for free throughout the state in all types of government buses including Palle Velugu, Ultra Palle Velugu, Express, and Ultra Express by showing their Aadhar card, Ration card, Voter ID, or Passport. The government will incur an expense of ₹1,950 crore for this scheme. 3,000 electric buses will be operated soon. Additionally, 1,400 more electric buses will be purchased.

Largest Asian Tortoise Back in Nagaland Community Reserve

The critically endangered Asian giant tortoise, the largest in mainland Asia, has been reintroduced into the Zeliang Community Reserve in Nagaland’s Peren. Officials stated that 10 individuals of the species from Nagaland Zoological Park in Chümoukedima were released through a community event on Saturday. The event was organised by the Nagaland Forest Department and the India Turtle Conservation Programme. The tortoises were released in a pre-constructed soft-release enclosure to help them develop site fidelity before dispersal. Once found in large numbers, the species was almost wiped out from Nagaland over a decade ago.

Iran Forms New Security Council

Iran has formed a new national security council in response to attacks carried out by Israel and America over the past three months. This council will be chaired by Abdol-Madjid Pourbakhshian. The council will focus on matters such as formulating war plans and strengthening the military. It has been announced that the country’s leader, the head of the judiciary, military commanders, and ministers will be members of this council.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren Passes Away

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) President, Shibu Soren, passed away at the age of 81 in Ranchi. Soren, born on January 11, 1944, in Hazaribagh district (now Ramgarh district) of Jharkhand, was a prominent tribal leader. He served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand three times and also as a Union Minister.

CM Inaugurates Electric Car Plant and Signs 41 MoUs for ₹32,554 Crore in Thoothukudi

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated Tamil Nadu’s first electric car manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, established with an investment of ₹16,000 crore. At the ‘Tamil Nadu Rising’ Investors’ Meet, 41 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed for a total investment of ₹32,554 crore in the presence of the Chief Minister. The VinFast electric car manufacturing plant, from Vietnam, is located on 408 acres in the SIPCOT area of Thoothukudi. The plant aims to produce 1.50 lakh electric cars annually, with an initial capacity to produce 50,000 vehicles per year already established. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for this plant in February last year (2024). Production at the VinFast plant commenced within 18 months of the MoU being signed. Tamil Nadu is positioned as a leader in India’s electric vehicle manufacturing, with 40% of India’s total EV production occurring in the state. The 41 MoUs are projected to create employment opportunities for 49,845 people. Specifically, 19 MoUs related to the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector were signed for an investment of ₹265.15 crore, aiming to create 1,196 jobs
