Chelsea Champions for the 2nd Time
Chelsea won the FIFA Club World Cup football tournament by defeating Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) 3-0 in the final match.
For Chelsea, who were already champions in 2021, this is their second cup in this tournament.
Cole Palmer scored for Chelsea in the 22nd and 30th minutes, and João Pedro scored in the 43rd minute. PSG continuously struggled to create a goal-scoring opportunity but failed to get one until the very end.
As a further setback for the team, PSG player João Neves was sent off with a ‘red card’ in the 84th minute for pulling Chelsea player Marc Cucurella’s hair and pushing him down. This forced PSG to play with only 10 players.
Approximately 81,000 fans gathered at MetLife Stadium to watch the final match. At the conclusion of the tournament, US President Donald Trump and FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) President Gianni Infantino jointly presented the victory trophy to Chelsea’s captain, Reece James.
The prize money for the champion Chelsea team is expected to be a cash prize ranging from approximately ₹1,104 crore to ₹1,322 crore.
