Honoured at Eurasian Group (EAG) Plenary for Anti-Financial Crime Efforts

® Supriya Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary, Departments of Environment, Climate Change, and Forests, Government of Tamil Nadu, was honoured for her contribution to the fight against financial crimes. ® The recognition was conferred at the 41st Plenary Meeting of the Eurasian Group (EAG) held in Indore, in November 2024. ® She was among a select few individuals acknowledged for exemplary leadership and service in strengthening efforts against money laundering and financial crime. ® The EAG is a regional body affiliated with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), promoting international cooperation in combating illicit financial activities.

Thirukkural to be

Translated into Tribal Dravidian Languages

® The Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT), Chennai, has initiated the translation of the Thirukkural into four lesser-known Dravidian languages: Kurukh, Gondi, Malto, and Brahui. ® The project aims to extend the philosophical and ethical wisdom of Thirukkural to tribal communities. ® The Dravidianism Revival Centre, a non-profit organization, is supporting the project by identifying linguistic talent and providing resources. ® Significance: Marks a literary milestone in languages traditionally rich in oral heritage, now developing stronger written tradition

Eliya Aalumai &

Uzhavarai Thedi Schemes – Tamil Nadu

® Tamil Nadu CM launched ‘Uzhavarai Thedi’ for agricultural outreach in all 17,116 revenue villages, with teams visiting farmers twice a month to provide guidance on crop yield, cultivation, and protection. ® Simultaneously, the ‘Eliya Aalumai’ (SimpleGov) scheme aims to digitize public services, enabling online access to licenses and certificates including sanitary and building licenses, old age home approvals, and NOCs for passport issuance.

Alaigal Scheme –

Tamil Nadu

® Tamil Nadu Chief Minister launched the ‘Alaigal’ scheme with an outlay of ₹ 25 crore to provide micro-loans to fisherwomen groups for their economic empowerment. ® Also inaugurated India’s first exclusive Tuna Fishing Harbour at Thiruvottiyur, aimed at promoting tuna fishing and marine trade.
