51st G7 Summit 2025

to be Held in Canada; India to Skip Participation

® The 51st G7 Summit is scheduled from June 15-17, 2025 in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada—the city’s second time hosting after 2002. ® The summit marks the 50th anniversary of the first G7 meeting. ® India will not participate due to ongoing diplomatic tensions with Canada, despite attending every summit since 2019. ® Previous summits were held in Germany (2022), Japan (2023), and Italy (2024). ® G7 member countries: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US.

Coal Launches C CARES 2.0 Portal

® The Ministry of Coal and Mines launched C CARES Version 2.0, an upgraded web portal of the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization (CMPFO). ® The platform aims to simplify Provident Fund and pension services for coal workers. ® Features include real-time tracking, direct benefit transfer, and mobile access. ® CMPFO was established in 1948 under the Ministry of Coal to manage coal workers’ retirement benefits.

DHRUVA: India’s Digital Address Infrastructure by Department of

Posts

® The Department of Posts (DoP) has released the policy framework for DHRUVA — a Digital Hub for Reference and Unique Virtual Address. ® DHRUVA is a national Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) providing a unique digital address for every home in India using a geo-coded framework. It comprises two layers: ® Digital Postal Index Number (DIGIPIN): A 10-digit alpha-numeric code based on geographic coordinates, dividing India into uniform 4x4 meter grids. ® Digital Address Layer: A user-centric, consent-based system allowing customized address labels linked to DIGIPIN. ® Objectives include enhancing governance, inclusive service delivery, and ensuring privacy, security, interoperability, scalability, and transparency.

Jan Aushadhi Kendra (JAK) Experiential Learning Program 2025

Launched

® The Government of India launched the JAK Experiential Learning Program 2025 under the campaign ‘Seva Se Seekhen – Learn by Doing’. ® Aims to promote community engagement and youth skill development. ® Five youth volunteers will be placed in each district’s Jan Aushadhi Kendra. ® Jan Aushadhi Kendras provide affordable, quality generic medicines to the public. ® The initiative fosters hands-on learning and supports public health services.
