of Tamil Nadu

®      Recent Change: Tamil Nadu government has delinked the Thuluva Vellalars community from the Agamudayars in the Backward Classes (BC) list.

®      80-year association between the Thuluva Vellalars and Agamudayars ends with this decision.

®      Agamudayars are one of the three constituents of Mukkalothars, along with Kallars and Maravars.

BC Commission Background:

®        First BC Commission (1969-70), headed by A.N. Sattanathan, used the term‘Agamudayan’.

®        Representations stated there was no relationship between Agamudayans and the Thuluva Vellalars of Madras.

®      Second BC Commission (1982-85) headed by J.A. Ambasankar:

®        Conducted a caste survey but concluded that no separate count for Thuluva Vellalars was possible due to how they identified themselves.

Real Money Games

Regulations – Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Online Gaming Authority has introduced New Regulations on Real Money Online Games Regulations, 2025

Key Provisions:

®     

Minors Prohibited: Individuals under 18 are not allowed to play real money online games.

®     

KYC Requirement: Know Your Customer (KYC) verification is mandatory for account creation.

®     

Aadhaar-Based Authentication: Initial login must be verified through Aadhaar-based verification with a one-time password sent to the linked phone number.

®     

Gaming Hours Restriction: Online real money games will be restricted between midnight and 5 am, with no logins allowed during these hours.

State Action Plan

on Climate Change (SAPCC) 2025 – Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Finalizied and submitted the State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC) to the Union Ministry of Environment for approval.

Tamil Nadu’s Pioneering Role:

®     

First state in India to launch a dedicated climate change mission.

®     

First state to make a budgetary allocation for climate change action.

SAPCC Focus:

®     

Lays out mitigation and adaptation strategies for various sectors.

Priority Sectors:

®     

Agriculture, Water Resources, Coastal Area Management, Forest and Biodiversity.

Water Resource Challenges:

®     

4% of India’s land area, 6% of India’s population, but only 2.5% of India’s water resources.

®     

95% of surface water and 80% of groundwater are already in use.

®     

Per capita water availability: 900 m³, compared to the national average of 2,200 m³.

PV Sindhu , an Indian badminton player, has been appointed as the brand ambassador of PUMA India (Germany).

She is the first badminton player to endorse the company.

AFI athletes’

commission

®     

Anju Bobby George has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI)‘s 9 -member athletes’ commission.

®     

The commission consists of 6 women and 3 men.

®     

Other women members are: Jyotirmoyee Sikdar, Krishna Poonia, MD Valsamma, Sudha Singh, and Sunita Rani.

®     

Male members are : Neeraj Chopra, Avinash Sable, and Bahadur Singh Sagoo (newly appointed President of AFI).

India’s role in new

Asian boxing body

®     

World Boxing has formed a new interim Asian body.

®     

Lovlina Borgohain , a Tokyo Olympic medallist, has been included in the Athletes’ Commission.

®     

With this, India will have 7 positions in the Asian body.

India to host World

Athletics event

®     

India will host its first World Athletics Continental Tour, a bronze-level global meet, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha in August 2025 .

®     

The meet will allow Indian athletes to earn world ranking points ( category C) for the 2025 World Championships

in Tokyo .

®     

Organizers must provide adequate medical and emergency services and at least five

dope tests

according to World Athletics Anti-Doping Regulations.
