38th National Games details
® Union Minister of State Raksha Khadse unveiled the Mascot, Logo, Anthem, Jersey, Torch, and Tagline of the 38th National Games. ® The games will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Dehradun , Uttarakhand. ® Over 10,000 athletes will participate in 38 sports . ® The mascot, named ‘ Mauli’ , is inspired by the Himalayan Monal , the state bird of Uttarakhand. ® The logo featuring ‘ the Monal’ , symbolizes the state’s rich natural beauty and diversity. ® The official tagline is ‘Sankalp Se Shikhar Tak’ (From Resolve to Zenith).
Youngest woman to scale seven summits
® Kaamya Karthikeyan , a 17 -year-old student of Navy Children School (NCS) in Mumbai, has become the youngest female in the world to scale the seven highest peaks across seven continents . ® She was conferred the PM Rashtriya Bal Shakti Puraskar in 2021 .
Pranav wins chess golds
® Pranav Venkatesh , an Indian grandmaster (GM), has won gold in the International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Youth under (U)-18 Open Rapid and Blitz events held in Brezice, Slovenia .
Ashwin retires from International cricket
® Ravichandran Ashwin , an Indian cricketer, has announced retirement from international cricket after a 14-year career. ® He is the second highest wicket taker for India in Test cricket with 537 wickets in 106 matches. ® He also played 116 ODIs (156 wickets) and 65 T20Is (72 wickets). ® He is the fastest Indian to reach 50 Test wickets . ® He is the first bowler to take 100 wickets in the World Test Championship (WTC). ® He holds the record for being the fastest to reach 250 , 300 , and 350 Test wickets. ® He has won 11 Player of the Series awards in Test cricket, the most by any Indian player. ® He has won the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year and ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year awards in 2016 . ® He is a recipient of the Arjuna Award ( 2015 ) and the Polly Umrigar Award ( 2012-13 ). ® He was named in the ICC Men’s Test Team of the Decade ( 2011-2020 ).

Committee on Old Pension Scheme - Tamil Nadu
® Tamil Nadu government constituted a three-member committee to study the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), and the Unified Pension Scheme. ® The committee comprises Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Additional Chief Secretary (Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department) K R Shanmugam, former Director of the Madras School of Economics; and Pratik Tayal, Deputy Secretary (Budget) in the Finance Department, who will serve as the committee’s member-secretary. ® The committee is tasked with submitting a detailed report with recommendations within nine months. ® The CPS was introduced for Tamil Nadu State government employees who joined after April 1, 2003. ® The NPS was introduced for Union government employees from January 1, 2004. ® The Union government introduced the Unified Pension Scheme on January 24, 2025.
T.N. Climate Summit 3.0
® Held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. ® Chief Minister launched a voluntary rating website for industries to reduce environmental impact by adopting eco-friendly production technologies. ® Unveiled a certification programme to encourage industries in Tamil Nadu to implement sustainable practices. ® The Global Nature Foundation of Thuraiyur bagged the ‘Sutrusoozhal Sudaroli’award (second prize, organisation category) at the Tamil Nadu Climate Summit 3.0. ® Introduced a specific action plan for transforming Rajapalayam (Virudhunagar district) into a model for low-carbon growth in the industrial sector. ® Announced the creation of eco-clubs in all schools across Tamil Nadu to raise awareness about climate change and its impact from an early age.

® Released By: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in the Event of State Credit Seminar Key Highlights: ® Preparation of district-wise Potential Linked Credit Plans (PLPs), aggregated as the State Focus Paper. ® Tamil Nadu’s Growth: Demonstrates strong resilience with a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11-12% over the last decade. ® Projected Credit Potential for 2025-26: ® Total ₹10 lakh crore for priority sector credit. ® ₹4,34,583 crore allocated specifically for agriculture and allied activities.
