India’s first

organic fisheries cluster

®     

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh launched India’s first organic fisheries cluster in Soreng, Sikkim .

®     

The cluster is part of the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana ( PMMSY ) scheme.

®     

It aims to increase farmer income and promote sustainable aquaculture using ecological fish farming methods.

®     

The project plans to sell organic fish (free from antibiotics, chemicals, and pesticides) in global eco-conscious markets.

AWBI partners with

NALSAR

®     

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has signed a MoU with NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad to provide legal training.

®     

The training will be provided to members of civil society supporting District Societies for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCAs) and State Animal Welfare Boards.

®     

The board will celebrate Animal Welfare Fortnight from January 14-30 , 2025.

EPFO completes CPPS

implementation

®     

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has completed the nationwide implementation of the ‘Centralized Pension Payments System (CPPS)’ under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) 1995.

®     

This aims to allow pensioners to access their pensions easily from any bank branch nationwide, removing the need for physical verification

and streamlining the disbursement process.

®     

The system enables over 78 lakh pensioners of EPS to receive pension from any bank branch in the country.

Cashless treatment for accident

victims

®      The central government

will launch a revised scheme by March 2025 to provide cashless treatment for road accident victims across India.

®      The maximum cover will be ₹1.5 lakh per accident per person for maximum of 7 days if reported to the police within 24 hour.

®      Families of deceased victims in hit-and-run cases will receive an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh.

®      The scheme will be implemented by the National Health Authority (NHA).

®      A pilot project was launched in Chandigarh

in 2024 , providing cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh per accident per person for a maximum of 7

days.

®      The pilot project was later expanded to six states: Assam, Chandigarh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Puducherry and Haryana.
