Open Market sale scheme policy 2025

® The Centre announced a revision in the Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) [OMSS(D)] policy for the year 2024-25. ® This policy aims to enhance food security and ensure efficient distribution of rice to various stakeholders. ® The reserve price of rice has been fixed at Rs.2,250 per quintal (Pan-India) for the sale to the State governments, State government corporations, and community kitchens, without the requirement of participating in e-auctions.

Battery energy storage system in Tamilnadu

® The Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL) will soon float a tender for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for solar energy. ® The Energy Storage Systems (ESS) can be used for storing available energy from renewable energy and further can be used during peak hours of the day. ® BESS is one of the storage options available. ® The Central government provides Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of up to 30% of capital cost or ₹27 lakh per Megawatt (MW) whichever is lower for BESS. ® Tamil Nadu’s installed renewable energy capacity was 24,274 MW as on December 31, 2024. ® Out of which the wind energy accounted for 11,409.04 MW and solar energy accounted for 9,518.37 MW.

Namma School Namma Ooru Palli (NSNOP) initiative

® The district-level conference of Namma School Namma Ooru Palli was held in Tiruchi. ® During the event, School Education Department launched Palli Chaalaram. ® This web page was designed to connect government school alumni and encourage their contributions to school development. ® The NSNOP initiative has received the pledges amounting to ₹141 crore from 31 companies for the Tiruchi region. ® The Tiruchi region encompasses districts such as Tiruchi, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, and Karur. ® The conference has marked the fourth regional gathering after similar events in Chennai, Madurai, and Coimbatore.

® The industrial delegation to Davos in Switcherland from Tamil Nadu has created special pins to promote the State as a strong and resilient investment destination. ® The concept of pins as a symbol of pride and identity was first introduced during the Global Investors Meet. ® The Tamil letter “tha” was crafted into a pin to represent Tamil Nadu. ® The new design will be featuring the iconic bull, a powerful symbol of strength, resilience, and progress.
