Adani Group Targets 10 GW Nuclear Power by 2035

Adani Group has set a target of achieving 10 gigawatts (GW) of nuclear power generation capacity by 2035. The group has established a new division named Adani Atomic Energy, and land has been identified for the proposed nuclear power projects. During the 2025–26 financial year, the group invested more than ₹1.5 lakh crore in the infrastructure sector. Adani Power is implementing an investment project worth ₹2 lakh crore with the objective of achieving 45 GW power generation capacity over the next five years. The project value of Adani Energy Solutions has increased to ₹72,000 crore, while Adani Total Gas has provided piped natural gas connections to more than 11 lakh households during the current year. Adani Ports handled 50 crore tonnes of cargo during the 2025–26 financial year, and Vizhinjam Port in Kerala handled 10 lakh containers in its first year of operation. Agreements have also been signed with Google to establish a data centre in Visakhapatnam. The consolidated revenue of the Adani Group during 2025–26 increased to ₹2.92 lakh crore, while net profit after tax reached ₹46,376 crore.

North Korea Commissions Choe Hyon Warship

North Korea has officially commissioned the 5,000-ton warship 'Choe Hyon' into its navy. The warship is capable of carrying nuclear-capable missiles and has been deployed for the security of North Korea’s western coast. The commissioning ceremony was held at Nampo Port, and it was attended by President Kim Jong Un. The vessel was first introduced in April 2025 and subsequently underwent various stages of testing. North Korea has also announced plans to build a 10,000-ton warship in the future. The Choe Hyon warship is equipped with advanced missiles capable of targeting enemy ships and aircraft and carrying nuclear weapons.

Keiko Fujimori Wins Peru Presidential Election

In the Peru Presidential Election, Keiko Fujimori, the candidate of a right-wing conservative party, secured victory by obtaining 50.11% of the votes and leading her opponent Roberto Sánchez by 43,386 votes in the second round of voting held in June. She is set to become the first democratically elected woman President of Peru. The official results are expected to be announced in mid-July, and she is scheduled to assume office on 28 July. Keiko Fujimori contested the presidential election for the fourth time, having previously lost the elections held in 2011, 2016, and 2021. Her father, Alberto Fujimori, served as the President of Peru during the 1990s.

Entry Ban by Eastern Libya Government

The Eastern Libyan Government has imposed an entry ban on citizens of Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia. The measure has been introduced to control illegal migration through Libya’s northern coast to European countries. Exemptions from the ban have been provided to diplomatic officials and persons employed in the education and healthcare sectors. Following the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya has remained divided under separate eastern and western administrations. According to the United Nations (UN), Libya currently hosts more than 9 lakh migrants and refugees, with a majority coming from Sudan.

India–Russia Trade Target by 2030

India and Russia are working together to expand bilateral trade and economic relations. According to Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson of the Kremlin, the current bilateral trade between the two countries stands at 60 billion US dollars (₹5.66 lakh crore). Both countries have set a target of increasing bilateral trade to 100 billion US dollars (₹9.44 lakh crore) by 2030. India and Russia are also strengthening cooperation through various international organizations, and both countries continue to work towards enhancing trade and economic partnerships.

India–China Cooperation and BRICS Relations

During the meeting of the National Security Advisors of BRICS countries held in New Delhi, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed bilateral relations between India and China. China expressed its willingness to work with India to resolve differences, increase mutual trust, and manage important issues between the two countries. China also stated its support for India in its role as the current chair of BRICS. China is scheduled to assume the BRICS presidency in 2027. Guo Jiaqun, spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, emphasized the importance of security cooperation and dialogue between the two countries. Following the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers, both countries deployed troops along the Ladakh border for four years, and later withdrew their forces after peace talks.

Rishabh Pant Returns to Delhi Capitals

Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant, who was purchased by Lucknow Super Giants for a record ₹27 crore during the 2025 IPL mega auction, has returned to Delhi Capitals for ₹15 crore. Pant had served as the captain of Lucknow Super Giants during the previous two IPL seasons. As part of a player trade, Kuldeep Yadav, a spinner from Delhi Capitals, has been transferred to Lucknow Super Giants for ₹13.5 crore.

India Leads ISSF Junior World Championship

At the ISSF Junior World Championship held in Germany, the Indian team of Vanshika Choudhary and Siva Narwal won the silver medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event with 469.7 points. In the 25m Standard Pistol individual event, Abhinav Deshwal won the gold medal with 574 points. In the men’s team event of the same category, the Indian team comprising Abhinav Deshwal, Jatin, and Abhinav Choudhary won the silver medal. In the medal tally, India remained at the top position with 20 medals, including 6 gold, 6 silver, and 8 bronze medals, followed by Italy and Poland.

Satellite Tracking of Olive Ridley Turtles in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu Environment and Forest Department launched a project during the last financial year to attach satellite trackers to Olive Ridley sea turtles nesting along the Tamil Nadu coast to study and protect their migration patterns. An allocation of ₹84 crore was made for the project. Since February 2026, turtles fitted with satellite trackers have been released into the sea. According to Supriya Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary of the Environment and Forest Department, the tracked turtles have migrated towards the southern Bay of Bengal and the sea areas surrounding Sri Lanka during the Southwest Monsoon. The project helps identify ancient marine routes, study ocean currents and marine ecosystems, and collect scientific data on the migration routes, feeding grounds, and habitats of Olive Ridley sea turtles.

Hygienic Roadside Eateries Pilot Scheme in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Department has introduced a pilot project to establish hygienic roadside eateries in Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Coimbatore, and Tiruppur districts. The eateries will function with uniform quality standards, and the government will provide necessary support and investment for establishing these facilities. Measures have been initiated to administer Typhoid vaccination to food handlers and workers employed in eateries across Tamil Nadu. The review meeting was chaired by Health and Family Welfare Minister K.G. Arunaraj at Chennai. The meeting was attended by Health Secretary Dr. Tharez Ahamed and Director of Public Health Dr. Somasundaram. The government has also announced that complaints regarding bribery by hospital staff can be registered through the 104 helpline.

BHIM App Transactions Triple in One Year

The monthly transactions of the BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) application developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) increased more than three times within one year. The number of monthly transactions rose from 7.96 crore in June 2025 to 24.4 crore in May 2026. During May 2026, transactions worth ₹26,952 crore were carried out through the BHIM application. Lalitha Natarajan, the CEO of NPCI-BHIM Services, is the head of the organization. To promote digital payments in rural areas and small towns, the BHIM application is available in more than 15 regional languages, including Tamil and Telugu, and is designed to function even in areas with limited internet connectivity.
