National Milk Day - November 26
National Milk Day is celebrated annually on November 26 in India to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, known as the "Father of the White Revolution" in India. Dr. Kurien's significant contribution to India’s dairy industry, particularly through the Operation Flood program launched in 1970, transformed India from a milk-deficient nation into the world's largest producer of milk. The first National Milk Day was observed on November 26, 2014, initiated by the Indian Dairy Association (IDA) and various dairy institutions to honor Dr. Kurien's contributions. The day emphasizes the crucial role milk plays in daily nutrition, especially for children, and its overall health benefits, providing essential proteins, calcium, and other nutrients. Economically, it highlights the importance of the dairy industry in supporting India's rural economy, providing livelihoods to millions of farmers, and empowering them through the cooperative model. The theme for 2025 is "Let's Celebrate the Power of Dairy", focusing on the health, economic, and environmental benefits of dairy, and promoting the importance of clean, nutritious, and responsibly produced milk for a healthier India.
Constitution Day - November 26
Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas or Law Day, is celebrated annually on November 26 in India to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on this day in 1949. Although the Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949, it officially came into effect on January 26, 1950, which is celebrated as Republic Day. The celebration of Constitution Day was officially declared by the Government of India on November 19, 2015, marking the 125th birth anniversary year of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. Prior to 2015, November 26 was informally observed as Law Day by legal institutions. The significance of this day is to reaffirm India's commitment to democratic values, liberty, equality, justice, and fraternity. It promotes constitutional literacy, encouraging citizens, especially students and public servants, to understand their fundamental rights, duties, and directive principles. The theme for 2025 is "Hamara Samvidhan – Hamara Swabhiman" (Our Constitution – Our Pride), reflecting a nationwide campaign for constitutional dignity, unity, and active citizen participation.

Rajnath Singh Seeks Global Collaboration for Boosting Maritime Capabilities
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged international partners to collaborate with India in enhancing next-generation maritime capabilities, emphasizing the country's growing shipbuilding ecosystem. Speaking at the Samudra Utkarsh seminar in Delhi, organized by the Department of Defence Production, he highlighted India's ability to co-develop sustainable technologies and resilient supply chains for a secure maritime future. Singh pointed to India's integrated end-to-end shipbuilding ecosystem, where each stage of ship construction, from concept design to lifecycle support, is indigenously developed and executed. This ecosystem is supported by both public and private shipyards, along with thousands of MSMEs, creating a strong value chain. Singh also noted the capabilities of India’s world-class platforms such as the INS Vikrant, Kalvari-class submarines, and various stealth frigates and destroyers. The private sector has been commended for producing green-fuel vessels, LNG carriers, and Ro-Ro ships for both domestic and international markets. Singh emphasized that every ship for the Indian Navy and Coast Guard is being constructed at Indian shipyards, supporting the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He also noted that the Indian Navy is currently implementing 262 indigenous design and development projects, and some shipyards are nearing 100% indigenous content.
PM Flags ‘Dharma Dhwaj’ at Ayodhya Temple
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the Dharma Dhwaj (sacred flag) atop the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, marking the formal completion of the temple’s construction. The flag, a saffron color with a sun symbol, is not only a representation of the temple but also symbolizes India’s cultural renaissance. Modi stated that this moment marks the healing of centuries of wounds and acknowledges the prayers of lakhs of devotees. He emphasized that this event marks the culmination of 500 years of unwavering resolve. During the ceremony, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Swami Govind Dev Giri, a member of the temple trust, were present. Modi also used the occasion to talk about the roadmap for a developed India by 2047, stressing the importance of freeing the nation from ‘slave mentality’. He questioned the education system introduced by Thomas Babington Macaulay in 1835 and its impact on traditional Indian knowledge. He further remarked that Indians must break free from mental slavery and rediscover confidence in their culture. The sacred flag is adorned with the Sun symbol, Om, and the Kovidara tree symbolizing the triumph of truth over falsehood. The flag, measuring 11 feet by 22 feet, is a right-angled triangular shape.
Mini Dam Appointed as Executive Director of Indian Bank
Mini Dam was appointed as the Executive Director of Indian Bank, a public sector bank. With over 31 years of experience in the banking industry, she assumed her new role on November 24. Mini Dam began her career in 1994 as an officer at Federal Bank and later worked as a financial analyst at Vijaya Bank. In 2019, Vijaya Bank was merged with Bank of Baroda, and Mini Dam was promoted to the position of Chief General Manager at Bank of Baroda in February 2025. She has now taken charge of her new position at Indian Bank.
’Jan Vishwas Act 3.0’ Soon - Piyush Goyal
On November 25, Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, announced that efforts are underway to introduce Jan Vishwas Act 3.0, which will focus on decriminalizing minor commercial offenses. The first version of the Jan Vishwas Act, introduced in 2023, decriminalized minor business offenses and led to amendments in 183 provisions across 42 laws. To further expand this initiative, the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025 was introduced in the Lok Sabha during the monsoon session and sent to a select committee for review. The committee is expected to submit its report on the bill during the winter session. This is considered as Jan Vishwas Act 2.0 in planning. At a national traders' conference held in Delhi, Piyush Goyal stated that work is progressing on Jan Vishwas Act 3.0, with 275-300 provisions identified for inclusion. He also mentioned that the recent introduction of the four labor codes would significantly simplify business operations, and traders have been asked to submit a detailed representation regarding the 'One Nation, One Right' issue.
Indian Economy to Cross $4 Trillion Mark
On November 25, Chief Economic Advisor V. Anantha Nageswaran announced that the value of the Indian economy is expected to surpass $4 trillion (approximately ₹357 lakh crore) in the current financial year. Speaking at a conference organized by the Indian Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (IVCA) in Delhi, Nageswaran highlighted that the economy, which was valued at $3.9 trillion at the end of March, is on track to exceed the $4 trillion mark in the 2025-26 fiscal year. He emphasized that India’s short to medium-term priorities should focus on green economy, energy transition, environmental protection, and addressing the challenges posed by climate change. Nageswaran also mentioned that India is highly aware of the impacts of global warming and climate change, particularly concerning the effects of flooding and threats to coastal areas. As part of its commitment, India has pledged to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.

Q2 Economic Growth Seen at 7-7.5% on Consumption Boost
India's Q2 GDP growth will be 7-7.5%, driven by a boost in rural consumption, thanks to low inflation and GST rate rationalization. While the growth estimate for Q2 is lower than the Q1 growth of 7.8%, it is expected to surpass the Reserve Bank of India’s FY26 estimate of 6.8%. The government is set to release the official Q2 GDP figures on November 30. State Bank of India predicts 7.5% growth, supported by increased investment activities, a recovery in rural consumption, and growth in services and manufacturing, fueled by structural reforms such as GST rationalization. Additionally, the IDFC First Bank estimates 7.3% growth for Q2, driven by a rise in rural wages, strong monsoons, and improved labour market conditions in rural areas. However, urban demand has weakened, as indicated by a decline in passenger vehicle sales and a slowdown in FMCG sales. Analysts note that the Indian economy is expected to cross $4 trillion in FY26, with Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran confirming that growth is crucial to maintain India’s global standing.

Erta Ale volcano - Ethiopian Volcanic Ash: Air Traffic Affected in India
On November 25, the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation reported that the volcanic ash clouds from an eruption of the Erta Ale volcano in Ethiopia have affected air traffic in India. The eruption, which occurred on November 19, involved a volcano that had been dormant for over 10,000 years in the Afar region of eastern Ethiopia. The ash clouds, which spread eastward, reached India, causing significant disruptions to flight operations. As a result, Air India canceled 13 flights on November 25, including both domestic and international routes. Some flights were diverted or had their travel time reduced as a precautionary measure. These ash clouds are expected to affect air traffic until Tuesday night before moving towards China. Notably, Air India canceled international flights such as AI 106 (New York-Delhi), AI 102 (New York-Delhi), and AI 2204 (Mumbai-Cairo), as well as domestic flights including AI 2822 (Chennai-Mumbai) and AI 2466 (Hyderabad-Delhi). In Chennai, several flights were canceled, including those to Mumbai and Delhi, while British Airways flights to and from London were delayed by about 3 hours. Despite these disruptions, air traffic across India is still operating smoothly overall.

World Cup Squash Tournament to Begin in Chennai on Dec 9
The STD World Cup Squash tournament will begin in Chennai on December 9, with teams from 12 countries participating. This tournament is being held for the second time in Chennai, organized by World Squash, SRM, Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority, and the Tamil Nadu Squash Association. In the previous tournament held in 2023, Egypt, Hong Kong, and Malaysia emerged victorious, with India also winning. Countries like India, Iraq, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Egypt, South Africa, Poland, Switzerland, Brazil, and Australia are participating in the World Cup. Matches will take place at SRM Avenue Mall and the Indian Squash Academy complex. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and World Squash President Zena Wooldridge will inaugurate the tournament at STD River Mall on December 8. The Indian team for the tournament includes Joshna Chinappa, Abhay Singh, and Velavan Senthilkumar from Tamil Nadu, and Anahat Singh from Delhi. The Indian team is currently undergoing training in Samiayanpet. Tamil Nadu government has allocated ₹3.30 crore for the tournament. The hosting of this event is significant, as squash is set to be introduced in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

₹11.40 Lakh Crore Investment Confirmed in Tamil Nadu
The Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet held in Coimbatore under the Department of Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce witnessed the signing of 111 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹42,792 crore, creating 96,207 jobs, while the MSME sector secured 47 MoUs with an investment of ₹1,052 crore generating 4,502 jobs. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin stated that during the DMK government, a total of 17 investor conferences have attracted investments amounting to ₹11.40 lakh crore, resulting in 34 lakh direct and indirect jobs. He also mentioned that 1,016 MoUs have been signed so far, which is double the number achieved by the previous government, and about 80% of these have already moved into implementation stages such as land allocation, trial production, and construction. Tamil Nadu’s economic growth rate of 11.19% is the highest in India. The number of startups in Tamil Nadu has grown from 2,146 in May 2021 to 12,663 at present. The total number of companies has increased from 62,413 to 79,185, with 16,772 new companies added. The number of employees covered under the provident fund scheme has risen by 29.64 lakh since the current government took charge. Tamil Nadu has also been recognized by the Central Government as a Top Achiever in four categories under the Ease of Doing Business ranking. Ministers T.R.B. Rajaa, K.N. Nehru, M.P. Saminathan, and C.V. Ganesan participated in the event.
