Deficit Reaches ₹ 15.77 Lakh Crore in FY 2024–25
® The central government’s fiscal deficit for FY 2024–25 stood at ₹ 15.77 lakh crore, or 100.5% of the revised annual target. ® This is lower than the ₹ 16.54 lakh crore recorded in FY 2023–24, which was 95.3% of the year’s estimate. ® Total expenditure was ₹ 46.56 lakh crore, accounting for 98.7% of the revised budgeted figure. Revenue receipts stood at ₹ 30.36 lakh crore, comprising: ® Tax revenue: ₹ 24.99 lakh crore ® Non-tax revenue: ₹ 5.38 lakh crore ® The fiscal deficit target was 4.8% of GDP for FY 2024–25, with a further reduction to 4.4% targeted for FY 2025–26.
