India-Japan LUPEX Mission (Chandrayaan-5)
® LUPEX (Lunar Polar Exploration) is a joint Moon mission by ISRO and JAXA, targeted for launch in 2027-28 aboard Japan’s H3 rocket. ® Also known as Chandrayaan-5, the 6.5-tonne mission aims to explore the lunar south pole for the presence of water. ® ISRO is responsible for developing the lander, while JAXA is building the 350-kg rover. ® The mission has now entered its preliminary design phase.
Inauguration of Polar Bhavan and Sagar Bhavan at NCPOR, Goa
® Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated Polar Bhavan and Sagar Bhavan at the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Goa. ® Both come under the Ministry of Earth Sciences. ® Polar Bhavan will house India’s first-ever Polar and Ocean Museum.
Assam Launches ‘Ankita’ – India’s First AI News Anchor in Regional
Language
® Assam government introduced ‘Ankita’, an AI-based news anchor delivering news in Assamese. ® It is India’s first AI news anchor in a regional language, enhancing digital news dissemination in local languages.
International Day for Biological Diversity 2025 – May 22
® Observed globally on May 22 to promote protection of the planet’s biodiversity. ® Date changed from December 29 to May 22 in 2000, marking the adoption of the Convention on Biological Diversity at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. ® The 2025 theme is “Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development.”
La Perouse 25 naval

The Indian Navy participated in the 5th edition of the multinational naval exercise ’ La Perouse 25 ’, held in the strategic maritime straits of Malacca, Sunda, and Lombok.
®
The French Carrier Strike Group (CSG) organized the eight-day exercise .
®
Nine nations participated in the exercise India (represented by INS Mumbai ), Australia, Canada, USA, France, Indonesia, Malaysia, UK, and Singapore.
®
The exercise also featured the use of the IORIS (Indian Ocean Regional Information Sharing) system.
®
The 4 th edition was held in 2023 in the Bay of Bengal.

renew MoU

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Indonesia Coast Guard (BAKAMLA) have renewed the MoU on Maritime Safety and Security Cooperation
for another three years.

ICG Ship Shaunak was deployed to strengthen operational linkages with BAKAMLA .
SANJAY BSS launched

Union Minister Rajnath Singh has launched “ SANJAY ( The Battlefield Surveillance System (BSS))” from South Block in New Delhi.
®
An automated system integrates inputs from ground and aerial battlefield sensors to produce a Common Surveillance Picture of the battlefield over secured Army Data Network & Satellite Communication Network .
®
It will enhance battlefield transparency and transform the future battlefield through a Centralized Web Application , which will provide inputs to Command & Army Headquarters, and the Indian Army Decision Support System .
®
It will monitor the vast land borders, prevent intrusions, assess situations with unparalleled accuracy and prove to be a force multiplier in Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance.
®
It is developed indigenously by the Indian Army and Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) under the Buy (Indian) category at a cost of ₹2,402 crore .
