Insurance

cover for accident victims

®     

The Tamilnadu state government has raised the insurance cover for the treatment up to ₹2 lakh for accident victims under the ‘Innuyir Kappom Nammai Kaakkum 48’ scheme.

®     

So far 3,20,264 persons had benefited under the scheme which was launched on December 18, 2021, by absorbing the cost of hospitalisation for the first 48 hours of accident victims.

®     

Currently, 721 healthcare facilities, including 248 government and 473 private facilities, are empanelled to provide treatment under the scheme.

®     

The Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai, and the Government Medical College hospitals in Villupuram and Tiruvannamalai were given awards for their performance in connection with the scheme.

®     

A special prize was also given to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General hospital, Chennai.

Welfare

scheme for SC/ST in TN 2024

The Tamil Nadu government listed various welfare schemes being implemented by the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department.

®     

The Annal Ambedkar Business Champions Scheme is ensuring the very economic development of entrepreneurs belonging to the SC/ST.

®     

A total of 1,303 beneficiaries have received subsidies worth ₹159.76 crore under the initiative.

®     

The Iyothee Thass Pandithar Habitation Development Scheme is implemented to improve amenities such as roads and street lights, and provide drinking water to Adi Dravidar habitations in urban and rural areas.

®     

A total of 1,966 projects had been taken up under the scheme in 2024-25.

®     

Under the Tholkudi scheme, infrastructure would be improved in tribal habitations at a cost of ₹1,000 crore.

®     

A total of 3,594 houses would be constructed for tribal people.

®     

The Department is setting up of knowledge centres for Adi Dravidar and Tribal students in 120 places at a cost of ₹117.27 crore.

®     

It constructed 60 hostels at a cost of ₹300 crore and additional classrooms in Adi Dravidar Welfare Schools.

®     

It is also offering incentives to students pursuing higher education abroad.

SOP

for speedy disposal of cases

®     

Madras High Court has formulated a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to help ensure the disposal of more cases.

®     

It also ensures avoiding the wastage of court time in mentioning matters and preventing unnecessary adjournments.

®     

The lawyers could directly obtain motion slips from his Court Officer and present them before the Registry for moving lunch motions and listing fresh cases on the next day.

State

Bird Authority 2024

®     

The Tamil Nadu government has issued an order reconstituting the State Bird Authority.

®     

It is tasked to monitor and improve bird sanctuaries, nesting conditions for birds, and ecotourism facilities.

®     

Earlier this year, an amendment was made to include Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) as a member in the State Bird Authority.
