PEN to be made

mandatory for students from academic year 2024-25

School Education Department in the state has made the use of Permanent Education Number (PEN) mandatory from the academic year 2024-25. It is a unique identification number assigned to every student by the Union Ministry of Education, through the UDISE+ (Unified District Information System for Education Plus) portal.

GREEN SOLUTION TO

PREVENT LANDSLIPS

The State highways department is undertaking the stabilization of slopes round the Nilgirs ’ major roads at five locations by growing grasses to prevent soil erosion. The project is known as ‘slope stabilization’ using soil nailing and Hydroseeding method’. Soil nailing is a geotechnical engineering technique that involves the insertion of reinforcing elements into the soil in a specified area to strengthen it.
