TamilNadu’s Economy May Grow Upto 10.69%

TamilNadu’s economy may grow at a rate of 8.08% to 10.69% in 2024-2025. Providing these real growth rate figures, a study on the state economy, conducted by C.Rangarajan and K.R. Shanmugam , Chairperson and director of the Madras School of Economics respectively, has estimated that in the recently concluded financial year of 2023-2024, the state’s growth rate varied from 8.08% to 9.44%. Being a “better- performing state”, Tamilnadu ’ growth would, in all probability, be faster than India’s.

T.N. now closer to elimination of filariasis

Tamil Nadu at the brink of eliminating lymphatic filariasis Tamil Nadu stands as the only State in the country to successfully accomplish all requisite Mass Drug Administration (MDA) rounds and attain a microfilaria ( Mf ) rate of below one per cent. Lymphatic filariasis, commonly known as elephantiasis, is a neglected tropical disease. Infection occurs when filarial parasites classified as nematodes (roundworms) are transmitted to humans through mosquitoes Infection is usually acquired in childhood and causes hidden damage to the lymphatic system. The WHO-recommended preventive chemotherapy strategy for lymphatic filariasis elimination is mass drug administration (MDA).
