Aadhaar Card Not Valid as Proof of Date of Birth – Uttar Pradesh Government Order
The Uttar Pradesh Government has issued a directive stating that the Aadhaar Card will no longer be accepted as valid proof of date of birth. The order was released by the State Planning Department on November 24, 2025, following a clarification from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) dated October 31, 2025, which stated that “Aadhaar card is not the proof of birth.” The directive, signed by Deputy Director Aditya Prakash Bajpai from the UIDAI Lucknow Regional Office, was communicated to all department heads. The Planning Department, led by Special Secretary Amit Bansal, instructed that Aadhaar cannot be used as a birth certificate or date of birth document for official purposes. Departments have been advised to accept birth certificates, high school mark sheets, or other prescribed documents as valid proof of date of birth in recruitments and educational admissions where age verification is required.
DGCA Orders Urgent Software Upgrade for Airbus A320 Fleet
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has directed all airlines to complete an urgent software upgrade for their Airbus A320 aircraft following an alert from the manufacturer Airbus. The directive, issued on November 29, 2025, mandates that aircraft which do not undergo the mandatory modification by 5:30 a.m. on Sunday must be grounded. The alert was issued after Airbus detected that intense solar radiation could corrupt flight control data. Airlines including IndiGo, Air India, and Air India Express were affected, with IndiGo having 200 aircraft (184 upgraded), Air India 113 aircraft (69 upgraded), and Air India Express 25 aircraft (23 upgraded) as of Saturday, 9 p.m. The DGCA order ensured that necessary rectifications were completed promptly between flights to maintain operational safety.
India Sends Additional Relief to Sri Lanka under Operation Sagar Bandhu
The Government of India has intensified humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka under Operation Sagar Bandhu following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah, which claimed over 159 lives. India deployed INS Vikrant, INS Udaygiri, and INS Sukanya carrying relief materials to assist affected families. Two Indian Air Force cargo aircraft transported 21 tonnes of relief materials to Colombo. Additionally, two National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams comprising 80 personnel and four trained canoers, led by P.K. Tiwary, Commandant of the 8th Battalion, were airlifted from Hindon Air Force Station to Colombo. These teams are equipped with inflatable boats, hydraulic tools, medical kits, and advanced communication gear. The Indian High Commission in Colombo is extending assistance to stranded Indian passengers at Bandaranaike International Airport. This deployment adds to NDRF’s ongoing domestic readiness across coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to manage the cyclone’s impact.
Government Issues SIM Binding Order for Messaging Platforms
The Union Government has directed messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal to implement ‘SIM binding’, ensuring that their services function only if the registered SIM card used for signup is present in the user’s device. The order, issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), also mandates that web-based chat sessions be logged out every six hours. The directive, effective from February 2026, aims to curb cyber frauds committed using SIMs operated from outside India. This move follows the 2024 Cyber Security Rules (amended), which introduced the concept of Telecommunication Identifier User Entities (TI-UEs), covering platforms that use mobile numbers for user identification. The order marks a major extension of the DoT’s jurisdiction beyond telecom carriers into internet-based communication services.
CSIR-NAL Unveils Production Version of Hansa-3 Trainer Aircraft
The CSIR–National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bengaluru, launched the production version of the indigenous Hansa-3 (NG) trainer aircraft. The aircraft will be manufactured by M/s Pioneer Clean Amps, a Mumbai-based company, which has set up a ₹150-crore manufacturing facility in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, with a target to produce 100 aircraft per year. The Hansa-3, first developed by CSIR-NAL in the early 1990s, features an all-composite airframe and is designed to meet the increasing demand for Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) training. The production agreement between NAL and Pioneer was signed in April 2025. The launch event was presided over by Union Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh. The CSIR-NAL is also developing the 19-seater Light Transport Aircraft SARAS Mk-2 for both civilian and defence operations, equipped with digital avionics, glass cockpit, autopilot, and command-by-wire flight controls. The Minister also inaugurated the Iron Bird Facility for SARAS Mk-2, established for full-system integration and ground testing of aircraft sub-systems.
Vivek Chaturvedi Appointed as Chairman of CBIC
The Central Government has appointed Vivek Chaturvedi, a 1990-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, as the Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). He succeeds Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, who has superannuated. Prior to this appointment, Vivek Chaturvedi served as a member of the CBIC Board. The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), as stated in the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
Election Commission Invites Public Suggestions for Improving Digital App
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has invited the public to share suggestions and ideas to improve its digital service platform, the ‘Voter Help Line App (VHA)’, launched in 2014. The app provides over 40 election-related services, including Voter Search, Registration, Voter ID Card download, Complaint Registration, and Know Your Candidate (KYC) details. Suggestions can be submitted through the app until December 27, 2025. The Commission plans to release an upgraded version of the app by June 2026, which will be used in the upcoming 2025 Bihar Assembly elections and municipal polls. This initiative is being implemented under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, with the aim of enhancing voter convenience and transparency in the electoral process.
West Bengal Governor’s Office Renamed as ‘Lok Bhavan’
The West Bengal Governor’s Office has been officially renamed as ‘Lok Bhavan’ (People’s House). The decision was implemented following a notification issued by the Governor’s Office on April 27, 2023, at the request of Governor C.V. Ananda Bose. As per the directive, both the Governor’s House in Kolkata and Darjeeling will now be known as ‘Lok Bhavan’. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs issued a related notification on November 25, 2025, confirming the renaming. This move reflects an administrative step to align the Governor’s establishment with public service functions. The new name will henceforth be used in all official correspondence and communication from the Governor’s Office.

Fiscal Deficit Rises to ₹8.3 Lakh Crore as Capital Expenditure Increases by 55%
India’s fiscal deficit reached ₹8.3 lakh crore during the April–October FY26 period, accounting for 53% of the full-year Budget Estimate (BE), compared to ₹7.5 lakh crore (48%) during the same period last year. The increase was mainly due to a sharp rise in capital expenditure (capex), which surged 32% year-on-year to ₹6.2 lakh crore, achieving 55% of the budget target. The Union government’s revenue deficit narrowed to ₹2.4 lakh crore from ₹3 lakh crore a year earlier, as non-tax revenues grew 22%, offsetting a 2% fall in net tax revenues. Gross tax revenue recorded a 14% rise in October 2025, but overall growth during April–October remained moderate at 4%, with income tax collections rising 6.9%, corporate tax 5.2%, and indirect taxes 2.6%. The ICRA estimated that gross tax revenues might fall short of the ₹42.7 lakh crore budget target by ₹1.2–1.5 lakh crore, partially balanced by higher non-tax revenues due to a larger RBI surplus transfer.
Crisil Raises India’s GDP Growth Forecast to 7% for FY26
Crisil has revised its GDP growth forecast for India for the financial year 2025–26 (FY26) to 7%, up from the earlier projection of 6.5%, following a strong 8% growth in the first half of the fiscal year. According to Crisil’s Chief Economist Dharmakriti Joshi, India’s real GDP growth stood at 8.2% in the second quarter, while nominal GDP growth was 8.7% due to easing inflation. The report highlighted that private consumption was the key factor contributing to the higher real GDP growth during this period.

Oscar Piastri Wins Qatar GP Sprint Race
Oscar Piastri of McLaren won the Qatar Grand Prix Sprint Race 2025 held in Doha, reducing teammate Lando Norris’ lead in the Formula One Championship to 22 points. George Russell of Mercedes finished second, while Lando Norris secured third place. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, a four-time world champion, finished fourth and is now 25 points behind the leader. With this result, Piastri now holds 374 points, Norris has 396 points, and Verstappen stands at 371 points. The race took place at the Lusail Circuit, marking Piastri’s first win since the Dutch Grand Prix (August 2025) and his third consecutive Qatar sprint victory in three years.

India Wins Team Silver in Dressage at FEI Asian Championships
India secured the team silver medal in the dressage event at the FEI Asian Championships 2025 held in Pattaya, Thailand. The Indian team was led by Shruthi Vohra, supported by Divyakriti Singh and Gaurav Pundir. In the individual intermediate 1 dressage test, Shruthi Vohra and her horse Magnanimous also won the individual silver medal.
