Expert panel to revise WPI
® The central government has formed an 18-member expert committee to revise the components of the Wholesale Price Index (WPI).
® Ramesh Chand chairs the committee.
® The committee will use 2022-23 as the new base year (replacing 2011-12).
® It will examine the composition and methodology to compile a new Producers’ Price Index (PPI).
® The final report is expected by June 2026 and will be submitted to the Office of the Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Exercise Surya Kiran
® The 18th edition of the joint military exercise between India
and Nepal , named “Exercise Surya Kiran”, has begun at the Nepal Army Battle School, Saljhandi in the Shivalik ranges of Western Nepal.
® A 334 -member Indian Army contingent, led by a Battalion from the 11th Gorkha Rifles , participated in the exercise.
® The 17th ‘Surya Kiran’ , was conducted in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.
India tests Bhargavastra system
® Economic Explosives Ltd (EEL) , a subsidiary of Solar Industries India Ltd, has successfully test-fired India’s first guided micro-missiles.
® This was part of its “Bhargavastra”
counter-drone system.
® The system successfully hit virtual targets over 2.5 km away.
® The Bhargavastra system is a multi-layered defence option that can detect small flying objects up to 6 km away.
® It can fire over 64
micro-missiles simultaneously.
® It has designed to operate across terrains.
New cold weather gear for
military
® DRDO has developed ‘HIMKAVACH’ , a multi-layer clothing system for military personnel serving in extreme cold conditions .
® The apparel has successfully completed user trials in temperatures ranging from +20°C to -60°C .
